What makes a Funformance Surfboard so great?
Funformance Surfboards are a collaboration project that John John Florence & his surfboard shaper Jon Pyzel worked on in their backyards on the North Shore of Oahu. Their idea was to shape & build a soft top that was unlike any other. Quality, strength, performance, longevity, fun, and weight were a few important factors.
After a couple years of back and forth, Funformance Surfboards were launched featuring a lightweight and durable epoxy/fiberglass construction, recycled EPS foam core with an internal wood stringer, genuine Futures™ boxes and a soft durable EVA top layer. Are fins included?
Fins are not included with your order unless noted in a promotion. We leave it up to the customer to choose their fin based on size, style, and personal preferences. Visit our Fins page for the best options and contact our board agents for any fin recommendation.
Do you need wax?
All JJF by Pyzel boards have a textured soft EVA (foam) top. From our experience, once the board is wet it is grippy enough to use without wax. However a lot of surfers may prefer the familiar feel and grip of a waxed board. Surfers in tropical climates might prefer wax to help prevent rash. If you do want to wax your board, all you’ll need is a thin layer of sticky bumps soft top wax found in both Warm/Tropical and Cool/Cold for what will best suit your local water temperature needs.
Will my traction pad stick?
They will stick! Our team of Funformance surfers have slapped some traction pads on their Funformance boards for ultimate rippability. Be sure to properly apply your pad by cleaning the area beforehand and leaving 24 hours for the pad to properly adhere.
How does Air Cargo Shipping work?
Air cargo shipping is actually the most affordable and safest way to ship surfboards!
While it does require shipping to a major/international airport & pick up at the airports cargo offices, it is a simple and easy process that we are happy to guide you along and assist with any questions.
Follow these 3 steps for an easy air cargo pickup experience:
- Specify your desired airport at order checkout in the ‘additional comments’ box. We will send it to the specified airport or reach out if there are any issues.
- Our team does 1 cargo run each week, so your order will normally ship within 5-7 days. Once it is on the way, you will receive a shipping confirmation email including an Air Way Bill # (AWB#) in blue that when clicked on, will forward you to the cargo carriers tracking page. On this page you will be able to track your order and click on the carriers cargo facility for any information on pickup address, hours, etc.
- Once your package has landed and is ready for pick up all you’ll need is your AWB# & ID handy at the cargo office. We highly recommend checking your board for any damages at the facility, especially if the box looks to be crushed, crunched, protruding, broken, etc. Any damage claims will need to be filed with the cargo agent at the time of pick up.
What happens if my board is damaged in transit via ground shipping?
Don’t stress! We packaged your board with several layers of packing material, but in the case you receive a damaged surfboard please contact us immediately at firstname.lastname@example.org with pictures of the board, the box it came in, and the packing supplies it was wrapped in. We will file a claim & replace or cover the repair of your new board.
